Lt. Gen. John W. Nicholson,_NATO HQ Land Component Commander
“The forces here are all demonstrating they’re capable, ready and especially in terms of multinational operations, to interoperate as a multinational coalition forces and an ability to conduct a range of tasks that we frankly have not done in the last ten years that we’ve been focussed on Afghanistan. So seeing the conventional tasks that are necessary to deter and prevent conflict being performed at such a high standard should be a very positive message for everyone in the Alliance.’’

Major General Hans van Griensven, JFC Brunssum’s Deputy Chief of Staff Plans SOUNDBITE (English):
“We have units in 16 different locations in Spain, Portugal and Italy and actually on the sea in the western part of the Mediterranean. For example, the Air Component Command, that is leading all the aircraft flying around, is positioned in Italy. While the Maritime Component Command is afloat on a ship in the Mediterranean and the Land Component Command is here in Zaragoza dealing with all the ground movements and grount troops. (EDIT) Wherever is needed, we can deploy and we can bring capabilities, able and capable, to the ground and to the air and on the sea as NATO to do whatever is necessary.

Brigadier General Mehmet Yalinalp, Deputy Chief of Staff Plans, NATO Headquarters Allied Air Command SOUNDBITE (English):
“We are continually working to make sure we are ready and responsive for all the threats or challenges that NATO might have in the air and space domain.”

“Trident Juncture 2015 exercise is a perfect venue to validate and to prove that NATO is ready and responsive to today’s challenges as well as tomorrow’s challenges.”

00:01:27:07
General Giovanni Fantuzzi, Italian Air Force Air Operations Commander SOUNDBITE (English):
The certification is something that is absolutely needed to be able to employ the capability for real. So the JFAC certification that we succeeded to reach in Poggio will allow the capability to be offered for the NRF (NATO Response Force) 2016. So if NATO will need an air component capability in 2016, can use the Italian JFAC for it.

Brigadier General Thomas Starlinger, Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations, Multinational Joint Headquarters Ulm SOUNDBITE (English):
“For Austria being a NATO partner enables us, without being a NATO member, to get into all those processes, the planning processes, and be best prepared for common crisis management operation.”
