Transcripts are only issued after receipt of a written request or Transcript Request from the student. Transcript requests, by law, must be signed by the person who attended the course. We do not accept phone requests. All transcripts from The Defense Information School are free. Transcripts are released in accordance with the guidance provided in the Academic Record and Transcript Guide and from the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.
All requests for transcripts will be processed in a timely manner. The process can take approximately four to six weeks. Please understand that we do not rush-process any request. In fairness to all, we fill transcript requests in the order we receive them. Please plan ahead. Transcripts are sent first class U.S. mail.
The following information is required in order to process the transcript:
There are two types of transcripts you may request, 'Official' and 'Unofficial'.
Transcripts sent from the Defense Information School (DINFOS) to a college are considered to be official. Most colleges and universities do not accept transcripts issued to the student.
No partial transcripts will be issued.
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, records may not be released to a third party without prior written authorization of the student with a notarized signature.
Only official transcripts will be sent to universities/colleges/service education offices.
Requester may ask for a file copy to be sent to their home or business address.
A file copy is not an official copy.
With each request, an unofficial copy is sent to the requestor.
