DINFOS Hall of Fame

The Defense Information School (DINFOS) Hall of Fame honors distinguished alumni, living or deceased, who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions at the highest levels in public service, industry, the military or academia for at least 20 years. Nominees may come from the fields of public affairs, public relations, print journalism, photojournalism, broadcast journalism, visual information, photography, videography, multimedia, or broadcast maintenance engineering and other related fields.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sept. 12, 2019) Electrician's Mate 2rd Class Sheldin Maumkel, a Sailor assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS George Washington (CVN 73), speaks about the his position as a work-center supervisor and how he addresses the major challenges he contends with on the job. George Washington is undergoing a refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization.
