DINFOS Hall of Fame

The Defense Information School (DINFOS) Hall of Fame honors distinguished alumni, living or deceased, who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions at the highest levels in public service, industry, the military or academia for at least 20 years. Nominees may come from the fields of public affairs, public relations, print journalism, photojournalism, broadcast journalism, visual information, photography, videography, multimedia, or broadcast maintenance engineering and other related fields.

David Kniess Jr., U.S. Navy veteran and director and executive producer of The Gift, talks about his experience making the documentary and Jodi Cilley, a festival advisory committee member, and founder and president of the Film Consortium San Diego, shares her view of the festival on May 19, 2023, at the G.I. Film Festival San Diego, in California. Kniess’ documentary is about the experience of 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, Kilo Company after suffering the loss of U.S. Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham, a Medal of Honor recipient who sacrificed himself to save his comrades. The G.I. Film Festival San Diego showcases films that are for, by, and about military veteran experiences.
