Col. Richard McNorton, Commandant

Col. Richard McNorton is the Acting Director for Defense Media Activity and the Commandant of the Defense Information School at Fort George G. Meade,
Maryland. At DINFOS he leads a team of 400 military, civilian and contractor professionals responsible for the world-class training of approximately
2,600 public affairs, visual information, broadcasting and broadcast maintenance professionals a year.

Lt. Col. Kim Bender 

 

Lt. Col. Kim Bender, Deputy Commandant & Dean of Faculty & Academic Affairs 

Lt. Col. Kim Bender is the Deputy Commandant and Dean of Faculty & Academic Affairs of the Defense Information School at Fort George G. Meade, Md. She earned her commission into the Air Force in 2006 from Texas State University. She is a career Public Affairs officer who has served in leadership positions at Joint, Major Commands, Number Air Forces and installation levels as well as performed information operations on the Joint Staff.

Don Smith, Director of Training

Don Smith is the Director of Training for the Defense Information School (DINFOS) in April 2019. As the DOT, Smith leads a highly-diverse team of more than 200 joint-Service military, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian and contract instructors responsible for the professional development and education of over 1,500 military, DOD and inter-agency civilians and international students annually in the public affairs and visual information career fields.

Glenn Stewart serves as the acting director of plans and technology at the Defense Information School, overseeing technology products and services that support the school’s training mission. A retired Air Force veteran, he returned to DINFOS after a 20-year military career to lead advancements in broadcast, visual and digital systems. Stewart’s leadership continues to drive innovation that enhances training for DINFOS students.
