The Mass Communication Systems Engineer Course is a 17-week, three-day resident (122 days) course conducted at 6500 Mapes Road, Ft. Meade, Md. 20755.

This course operates on a fiscal year schedule from October 1st to September 30th. All courses offered after October 1st of a particular year are considered part of the next fiscal year. For example, if a course begins Oct 1, 2025, it is listed under FY 2026.

Course Description

The Mass Communication Systems Engineer Course provides instruction in the fundamentals of electronics to include electrical safety, AC/DC current, voltage, corrosion control and the principles of troubleshooting. The students apply their new skills in the set-up and operation of studio systems, including radio and television studios, cameras and media storage to include digital editing, audio, maintenance, and transmission systems.  The course concludes with a field training exercise and course capstone assessment where the students set-up, troubleshoot and transmit audio visual products for distribution and archival purposes.

  • United States Army, Army Reserve, Army National Guard -  Soldiers must meet prerequisites outlined in DA PAM 611-21. Must be eligible for SECRET security clearance. Required Pay Grade E1-E6. Minimum EL score 93 on the ASVAB. PULHES 212221. If you do not meet the requirement, your enrollment in the course will require exception to policy (ETP) approval by the Army Public Affairs School.   • International students - 85 English Comprehension Level (ECL), and a 2+/2 Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
