Lessie M. Lampkins has been the Director of Logistics for the Defense Information School since October 2021. Her role is to oversee all logistical, facility and physical security operations within the schoolhouse. After serving 8 1/2 years in the Army as Army Information Systems Operator (74D) Ms. Lampkins started her civilian career as a DOD Contractor in 1999, with SSDS, Inc.
Ms Lampkins joined the DINFOS team over 20 years ago as a Remedy Administrator. Her ability to classify and locate IT assets allowed her to transition to the Department of Logistics as a Logistics Management Specialist.
She currently leads a team of ten government civilians and service members managing all facets of procurement, staff training, property accountability, student issue point operations, supplies and services, facility maintenance, contracting oversight, safety and security. She is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a 320,000 square foot DINFOS facility and a three-acre field training site that supports student training. She manages a 4.1million annual budget.
Ms. Lampkins is an avid runner. In her spare time, you can find her training for her next race. She has run the Army 10 Miler seven times. In October of 2023, she successfully completed the Marine Corps Marathon. Ms. Lampkins is the mother of two sons, who she affectionately calls the “heartbeats outside of her chest.”
