Course Description


PURPOSE: The purpose of this course is to prepare senior public affairs professionals to serve in a joint environment at a combatant, component or non-DOD equivalent level.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Joint Senior Public Affairs Course provides a capstone experience for senior public affairs leaders within the Department of Defense and other U.S. government agencies, as well as foreign militaries. Students review operational challenges in today's security environment and will discuss best practices for aligning PA and operational lines of effort through panel and guided discussions with senior leader mentors and distinguished guest speakers. The class participates in staff rides, examines case studies, and develops operational strategies for group and individual exercises.

Special Information:

JSPAC and JSEPAC have merged into one course, JSPAC.

Prerequisite Courses

The Student must satisfy any one of the following Prerequisite Course Solution Sets:

Students must have graduated from course:

DINFOS-PAQC        (PA QUALIFICATION COURSE).

Or        DINFOS-PAQC-ADL-R Phase: 2 (PA QUALIFICATION COURSE-ADL-R).

Or        DINFOS-JIPAC        (JOINT INTERMEDIATE PUBLIC AFFAIRS COURSE).

 

Text Prerequisites

Completion of one or more of the following courses is required for students attending the Joint Senior Public Affairs Course: DINFOS-PAQC or DINFOS PAQC-ADL-NR/R or DINFOS JIPAC. These course prerequisites are in addition to the service prerequisites. If the prospective student does not meet the DINFOS course prerequisites, the service must submit a waiver through the DINFOS Registrar's Office for final approval by the DINFOS Commandant.

· Officer:

O-5 - O-6 Officers are recommended to be JIPAC graduates.

· Enlisted:

E-8 and above Enlisted must be graduates of Advanced NCO Course (ANCOC)/Senior Leaders Course (SLC).

· Civilian:

GS-13-15

U.S. Navy:

 

· Officer:

O-4 - O-6

· Enlisted:

E-7 and above. Enlisted must be a Mass Communication Specialist

· Civilian:

GS-13 through 15

U.S. Air Force:

E-8 and above. Enlisted must have a 3N Air Force Specialty Code.

International students

attending this course must have an English Comprehension Level (ECL) of 85, obtain a 2+/2+ on the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI), and possess basic typing skills. An international student requesting enrollment must be O-4 or senior O-3 and a graduate of either DINFOS-PAQC, DINFOS-PAOQC, AFIS-PAOQC or DINFOS-JIPAC. Students must have a solid understanding of English language usage, grammar and syntax.

Interagency:

Must be in a GS 1035 position at a grade of GS 13-15 with a minimum of five years' experience as a public affairs specialist.
