The Intermediate Public Affairs Specialist Course provides higher-level training of public affairs activities in a joint service environment. Topics covered are in the areas of communication management, media relations, community relations and special issues. Students apply the knowledge and skills learned from instructor-led discussions to practical exercises in a joint environment.

GS-11 - GS-13 assigned to a public affairs billet (series 1001, 1035, 1082); approved by Army Public Affairs Center (APAC)
U.S. Air Force:
E-5 - E-6 (AFSC 3N0XX)
GS-09 - GS-11 assigned t o a public affairs billet
E-5 - E-7 (MC rating; minimum 1-year public affairs experience)
GS-07 - GS-13 assigned to a public affairs billet (series 1035, 10 82, 1084); approved by Chief of Information (O1-8)
U.S. Marine Corps:
E-3 - E-5 (MOS 4341, 4612, 4641, 4671, 4691)
GS-07 - GS-11 assigned to a public affairs billet (series 1035); approved by Director of Public Affairs
U.S. Coast Guard:
E-4 - E-6 (Public affairs specialist with minimum 18 months public affairs experience)
GS-07 - GS-09 assigned to a public affairs billet (series 1035); approved by Programs Branch Chief
International students attending this course must have an English Comprehension Level (ECL) of 85 and must be a graduate of the DINFOS-BPASC, BPAS-W, BPAS-B, DINFOS BCC or AFIS BJC course.
Interagency students are not eligible to attend this course.
