A native of Richmond, Virginia , Colonel Hutcheson is a 1995 graduate from the Pennsylvania State University, earning his commission through the Air Force ROTC program there. He is a career public affairs officer, having served at the Wing, Major Command, Air Staff and Field Operating Agency levels. In his most recent assignment, he served as Commander of the 313th Recruiting Squadron in North Syracuse, New York where he was responsible for the accession of nearly 1,000 new Airmen a year into the United States Air Force.
Colonel Hutcheson has deployed overseas in support of worldwide contingency operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, the Republic of the Philippines and most recently in Afghanistan, where he served as an advisor within the Afghan Ministry of Interior.
Colonel Hutcheson holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice from Penn State University, a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Washington and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He has completed Squadron Officer School, Naval Command and Staff College (by seminar) and Air War College (by correspondence).
His major awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal.
