The Defense Information School (DINFOS) has a long-standing mission of producing outstanding Public Affairs and Visual Information personnel for the U.S. Department of Defense. We are a component of the Defense Media Activity.

Human Resources Office (HRO)-Reserve Recruitment and Support

The Human Resources Office(HRO) manages the Reserve Instructor (RI) Program to provide the academic departments with qualified, certified adjunct faculty to enhance training for customers. This is a voluntary program. Service members remain assigned to their units and are brought to DINFOS on short-term tours to teach. In order to become a member of the program, the service member must complete an application and be accepted into this competitive and rewarding program.

Criteria to apply:

  • Must have attended a MOS/AFSC producing course at DINFOS.
  • Must hold a Public Affairs or Visual Information MOS/AFSC/Rating.
  • Must have sufficient military Public Affairs experience.
  • Other experience preferred: Teaching, deployment, civilian public affairs, etc.
  • Be willing to attend the DINFOS Instructor Training Course (ITC), approximately 21 training days, and complete the rigorous certification process.
  • Make a commitment to DINFOS to continue to come back to teach once certified.
If the criterion has been met, submit a Reserve Instructor Application to begin the process.
