HOLLYWOOD WARRIORS -- Faculty from DINFOS' Combat Documentation Department will be featured in a History Channel documentary slated to air Oct. 16. The program, which will use clips from the Clint Eastwood-directed motion picture, "Flags of Our Fathers," will offer viewers a look at combat camera training in the U.S. military. Frequent DINFOS lecturer and graduation speaker Bob Jordan has been in demand lately with the release of his book, Is America Safe, co-authored with business partner Don Philpott. Jordan, whose 30 years in Marine Corps public affairs-related work took him to combat in both Vietnam and Lebanon, has been a writer, photographer, broadcaster and graphics artist, both in and out of uniform.

Sandiford spoke to the newest DINFOS graduates about how current and future conflicts will not be fought with just guns and bombs, but with information, "something our adversaries have mastered so well," he said. Ft. Meade -- Author/screenwriter Antwone Fisher was guest speaker at the Air Force's 59th birthday celebration held at Club Meade last week. Ft. Meade, Sept. 11 -- The late Maj. Robert B. "Mo" Morrisey (right, advising Marine Commandant, Gen. Wallace M. Greene, Jr.) was remembered in ceremonies held here last month in conjunction with the USMC Combat Correspondents Annual Conference. Morrisey, who had guest lectured at DINFOS, was a three-war Leatherneck whose enlisted and officer career included stints at writing, editing, photography and public affairs. Five years ago, DINFOS faculty member MCI Michael Pendergrass was shooting photography at the Pentagon as America reacted to the horrific day which became known simply as "9-11." COAST GUARD ON BIG SCREEN

Alameda, Calif. -- DINFOS grad, PA1 Alan Haraf, snapped this shot of Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher during the actors' visit to Coast Guard Island last week. Costner and Kutcher play USCG rescue swimmers in "The Guardian," one of a new crop of military-oriented motion pictures involving behind-scenes assistance of Defense Information School alumni. Later this fall, a History Channel documentary, designed to coincide with Paramount's release of "Flags of our Fathers," will examine DINFOS combat camera training.
